That’s how, at the end of that year, their first album, called Skillet, was well received by the public. They had barely been together for a month when one of the major Christian labels, ForeFront Records, showed interest in them. Soon after, Trey McClurkin joined the band as a temporary drummer. Coming from different styles of music, the two decided to name the band Skillet, since the product they wanted to develop was “like throwing everything in a ‘frying pan’, and see what comes out”. Skillet was formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996 when John Cooper, ex-vocalist of Seraph, and Ken Steorts ex-guitarist of Urgent Cry, decided to make a project together. The chorus is among the most satisfying guitar-work I have heard in both a skillet album and Christian rock/metal album. Cooper (vocals, bass, acoustic guitar), Korey Cooper (vocals, backing vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, synthesizer), Jen Ledger (vocals, backing vocals, drums, percussion), Seth Morrison (lead guitar). Skillet is a Christian rock band formed in Memphis, USA in 1996.
